These are strange times, so I thought I’d speak candidly and share what I’m doing to get through.
I shared this video over on my tiny YouTube channel, and someone there said they were glad to see it because they were worried about CJ and I after my last post, ‘This pandemic is my teacher‘.
It honestly hadn’t occurred to me that I’d cause folks to worry about us, so apologies for that. I’m sharing this video here on my blog too, just in case someone sees that last post and wants to know what’s going on now.
As I said over on YouTube, we’re enjoying the little things around our property — the ripe pears and apples and quince all over, petting the messy pigs, going on walks around the property and down to the river. We’re fine and safe and healthy.

It’s good to know that you’re both OK. And if you have to avoid people, I can’t think of a better place to do it.
Yes, all is fine here. I like to say we’re trapped in paradise! I thought you were still in Hawaii but just saw you’re back in Tokyo. Stay safe!
Hi Jared I’m thoroughly enjoying your book ‘An Olive Grove at the End of the World’ it is charming, delightfully simple & such fun.
I’d invited friends for dinner when I reached your gluten free focaccia recipe page –
I had to try it!
I always use my dinner guests as guinea pigs!
What a superbly impressive focaccia loaf sat gently steaming as our guests walked in – it was so delicious – applauds to you & Aussie Bronwyn !
Tan
Hi Tan – So nice that you were able to share that wonderful focaccia with friends. Exactly as it’s meant to be! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the book. All the best, Jared
